Under the patronage of The Minister of Culture Hilmy Al-Namnam, The General Organization of Books and National Documents, headed by Dr. Ahmed Al-Shouki, celebrates the 100th anniversary of the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser.
The celebration will take place on Monday, 15 January in The General Organization of Books and National Documents in Al- Fustat. The festivity will be attended by Dr. Huda Abdel Nasser, the daughter of the late leader and a number of his family members.
The symposium will begin with the opening speeches, followed by screening a documentary film about the leader ,then a symposium about the life of Abdel Nasser will be held , directed by Dr. Ahmed Zakaria Al-Shalq, The Head of The Scientific Committee of The Contemporary History Center of Egypt, Dr. Ahmed Salah El Mulla , Professor of History in Faculty of Arts, Damietta University.
The ceremonies will include also the inauguration of an exhibition of documents, periodicals and pictures of Gamal Abdel Nasser's life in the period of his rule, and in the events that took place in Egypt during the triple aggression, The Yemeni war and the defeat of 1967. The exhibition will also includes his decisions including the decision of the nationalization of Al- Suez Canal.
It is worthy of note that The General Organization of Books and National Documents printed The books and documents , in addition to the publication of another book entitled "Egypt 1956: Nationalization, Aggression and Victory." The book discusses The attitude of the international forces towards the triple aggression and the popular resistance in Port Said . The book " Egypt 1956" presented and edited by Dr. Latifa Salem and prepared by Ali Metwally , a Researcher in The Center of Contemporary History of Egypt – Subjected to The Books House.
For her part, Dr. Huda Abdel Nasser will dedicate a collection of documents about Nasser's rule to The General Organization of Books and National Documents.
